JASNA GHR – Beginnings and more

For years there had been a lack of Janeite socializing in Houston Texas. And how could we? Hardly any of us knew eachother. You could walk into a book store and walk straight to the Jane Austen section and share secret smiles with others standing in the same aisle, but that was the extent of our enjoyment of eachothers company. This could not do…it would not do. And so on May 3rd, 2008 a few friendly Austen fans met at a delightful tea house in Houston to discuss the possibility of organizing a Houston region. We all liked eachother so much that we decided then and there when the next meeting was to be held.

In July 2008 we held our inaugural JASNA Greater Houston meeting, electing Amanda Day as regional coordinator. And as they say…the rest is history.
